CAROLINE BAKER (Stylist)

THE STORY:
”Liz Smith - who was the Fashion Editor at Cosmopolitan - kept running into me on the King’s Road (as I was living there and working for Vivienne Westwood). I was running around with my hair wrapped in rags and I was like the Rasta girl, wearing what became the Mud skirt. Liz wanted me to come to Cosmo as they were looking for a new Fashion Editor... Nearly all the work I did in Cosmo was fashion led at a time when fashion was changing, it was a time after Punk when the New Romantics and ruffles were coming in. To feature Vivienne in a magazine you would almost have to smuggle the clothes in so your Editor didn’t really notice…”
